Office of Sustainability

KatherineLawrenceJersey City’s Office of Sustainability oversees the City’s sustainability efforts across a variety of departments and sectors, including the 2018 Year of Energy campaign. The Office coordinates across departments to improve the City’s sustainability practices, research and implement new community sustainability policies, develop action plans for meeting the City’s climate sustainability goals, and interface with the community to raise awareness of sustainable practices and sustainability resources.

Following the Year of Water in 2017, the City of Jersey City declared 2018 to be its Year of Energy, a city-wide, cross-sector and cross-departmental effort managed by the Office of Sustainability. This is an opportunity for the City and its residents to focus intensively on energy-related issues and projects for a specific and sustained time period in order to ensure lasting impact. Over the course of the year there will be a number of different initiatives at both the municipal and community level.
