 The following information pertains to the funeral services for
Jersey City Police Detective Joseph Seals
who was tragically killed in the line of duty on Tuesday, December 10th, 2019

Per NJ Transit: Routes in the vicinity of Journal Square Transportation Center in Jersey City will be detoured to accommodate the funeral services for JCPD Det. Joseph Seals.

STREET CLOSURES:  For a complete list of street closures for December 16-17 please click here.  Due to planned street closures and parking restrictions, mass transit is strongly encouraged.

Street closures are scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. with a hard closure at 8:30 a.m. 

ALL STREETS INTERSECTING BERGEN AVENUE FROM SIP AVENUE TO FAIRMOUNT AVENUE WILL REMAIN LOCKED DOWN UNTIL CONCLUSION OF THE EVENT APPROXIMATELY 2 PM. 
As operations pass Sip Avenue heading southbound on Bergen Avenue all Traffic on Pavonia, Sip, and John F. Kennedy Blvd. will reopen.    The area surrounding Saint Aedan’s and the Jersey City National Guard Armory may be subject to extended closure.

SS:  There will be no access for video or still photography inside or outside the funeral home or church property on Monday and Tuesday.  No members of the press will be allowed inside the church before or during the funeral service. This means there will be no pool feed available either day.

Tuesday - Mass at St. Aedan's Church

SET UP: All members of the press will be required to stay across the street from St. Aedan’s.  There will be a reserved staging area on the steps of the Old Bergen Church located at 1 Highland Avenue.

PARKING:  Limited parking for media trucks will be available on Highland and Glenwood Avenues off of Bergen Avenue. Additional parking can be found on Montgomery Street between JFK Boulevard and West Side Avenue.  Surrounding streets will be closed for the services, expect significant delays.  Any vehicles arriving after 8:30 a.m. will not be guaranteed access.
