Purchasing

The mission of the Purchasing Division is to work with City departments to cost effectively provide the municipality with the highest quality goods and services in a timely basis. The procurement office upholds and maintains ethical standards to the highest level of integrity and follows best business practices.

Purchasing Division complies with procurement practices in accordance with the New Jersey Local Public Contracts Law 40A:11-1 et seq. The Purchasing Agent, the City’s contracting agent, has the authority, responsibility, and accountability for the purchasing activity, advertise for bids and to receive bids for the provision or performance of goods/services and to award contracts permitted pursuant to subsection a. of section 3 of P.L.1971, c.198 (C.40A:11-3) in the name of the contracting unit, and conduct any activities as may be necessary or appropriate to the purchasing function of the contracting unit.

Doing Business with Jersey City (Public Contracts)

In accordance with N.J.S.A 40A:11 et seq., and/or N.J.S.A 19:44A-20.4 et seq., the City of Jersey City solicits responses for various services.

Advisory:  Professional Services and Extraordinary Unspecifiable Services vendors are prohibited from making political contributions to Jersey City municipal candidates and to other political organizations. Please read Jersey City's Pay to Play Ordinance (09-096)
