General Description of the City’s Centralized Procurement Office

The Division of Purchasing, under the Department of Administration, manages a centralized procurement process pursuant to the state laws and City ordinances. The City’s centralized procurement office complies with procurement practices in accordance with the New Jersey Local Public Contracts Law 40A:11-1 et seq. The Purchasing Agent, the City’s contracting agent, has the authority, responsibility, and accountability for the purchasing activity, advertise for bids and to receive bids for the provision or performance of goods/services and to award contracts permitted pursuant to subsection a. of section 3 of P.L.1971, c.198 (C.40A:11-3) in the name of the contracting unit, and conduct any activities as may be necessary or appropriate to the purchasing function of the contracting unit.

In accordance with N.J.S.A 40A:11 et seq., and/or N.J.S.A 19:44A-20.4 et seq., the City of Jersey City solicits responses for various services.
