Leonard Gordon Park

After a positive collaboration period with local neighborhood and park associations and residents, the City of Jersey City is beginning Phase 1 of the Leonard Gordon Park improvements.
Site Safety improvements at the park will begin the week of October 23, 2023 for a duration of approximately 10 months, weather conditions allowing. Work will occur weekdays from 8AM - 5PM
During this time, the park will be closed to the public at all hours in order to maintain a safe construction site.
The goal of Phase 1 is to enhance park user accessibility through:
- A new ADA path network
- ADA ramps
- New lighting
- New trees to be planted throughout the park
- Green infrastructure will be installed to mitigate flooding.
This work will require demolition activities to upgrade the existing park elements. Any trees that will require pruning or removal will be done with advice from the Jersey City Shade Tree Commission and the Jersey City Forester.
Upon completion of construction, the park will be reopened for the community to enjoy.
If you have questions or concerns during the construction, please contact the Division of Architecture at 201-547-5900.
