JERSEY CITY COVID-19 UPDATES AND INFORMATION
With warmer weather coming, more of us will be out and about - on the street, in parks, and as the state opens up, at restaurants. The good news this week is that the rate of Covid-19 transmission in the state has dropped, but transmission is nearly as high now as it was one year ago and rates remain very high in Hudson County.
Even better news is that next week residents over the age of 16 will be eligible to receive the vaccine. While Covid-19 is much deadlier for adults over 50, most recorded cases in Jersey City were among those under 49. As we learn more about the virus, we are seeing that even if you are asymptomatic, you can inadvertently spread the virus to someone you love who may be older and in some cases you may have undiagnosed, long-lasting medical effects.
We are making vaccines immediately available as we receive doses from the state. Please check the city vaccine page, jcnj.org/vaccine or follow #healthierjc on social media for updates on where you can go to get a vaccine.
As we continue to work with our partners in rolling out vaccines, I would like to encourage everyone to get vaccinated as soon as you have opportunity.
Let's continue to work together; better days are not far away.
- Steven M. Fulop, Mayor
