PAY TRANSPARENCY: THE LAW IN JERSEY CITY

In an effort to promote fairness and equity in the workplace, Jersey City has enacted a Pay Transparency law. Employers in Jersey City with 5 or more employees – whether those employees are on staff or independent contractors – must inform job seekers of pay and benefits in all job postings - print or digital.


The penalty for non-compliance of the law is a fine of up to $2,000.
