Biography
Maureen Hulings is a life long Jersey City resident. All who know Maureen will tell you that she has always responded to every call for help, support and direction from friends and neighbors. It cannot be disputed that Maureen’s Jersey City Roots – planted by her grandparents over 100 years ago – continue to nourish and inspire her.
Maureen believes in civic duty. She is a Ward B committee person (previously Ward A until redistricted); currently serves as the Chair of the Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority & previously served as Chair of the Jersey City Incinerator Authority; in April 2025 Maureen was appointed by the Jersey City Council as the Ward B Councilwoman to fill the term of the previous Ward B Councilwoman; She is also the Board President of College Towers Apartments where she & the CT Board work diligently to keep College Towers affordable & safe. Affordable housing in Jersey City is an important issue to her; She believes that charitable work in her community is part of her Jersey City DNA. She has been a member and Chair of the Jersey City St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee for over 20 years which has evolved under her leadership from not only supporting and financing a parade to also awarding scholarships to needy students in the Jersey City community & support to those in need; The Parade Committee is only one of many charitable organizations that she works with. She serves as the Executive Director of the 200 Club of Hudson County supporting Police, Fire & EMTs; Maureen previously served as a Trustee of the Hudson County Community College Foundation; the Chair of the Jeremiah Healy Charitable Foundation for a Better Jersey City & is a current & founding member of the Jersey City Fire Foundation Board. The Parish of St. Patrick & Assumption, All Saints Foundation, and the Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School Foundation are two more organizations that she is a part of.
She has worked with the Connell Foley Law Firm since they merged with Schiller Squeo & Hartnett in Jersey City over 20 years ago. Maureen is the widow of the late Jersey City Fire Captain Michael Hulings; Maureen does not regard civic duty as an “obligation”, she sees it as an opportunity to support her community.
