AIDS TASK FORCE

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to lead the fight against HIV/AIDS through innovative solutions, compassionate care, and unwavering advocacy.

We are dedicated to driving policy changes that address systemic barriers and improve outcomes for local communities affected by HIV/AIDS.

By fostering collaboration, education, and resilience, we strive to eliminate stigma, ensure equitable access to healthcare, and create a future free from HIV/AIDS.

WHO ARE WE?

The Jersey City AIDS Task Force operates under the Jersey City Department of Health and Human Services, within the Division of Community Health and Wellness.

The Task Force is coordinated by Linda Ivory-Green, the Division Director of Community Health and Wellness.

The Task Force holds a monthly meeting with its member organizations to collaboratively assess community needsplan strategic initiatives, and implement HIV/AIDS-related programs and services throughout Jersey City. These efforts aim to enhance prevention, education, testing, treatment, and support services for individuals affected by or at risk of HIV/AIDS.

The Task Force is composed of a diverse group of partner organizations, including healthcare providers, community-based organizations, advocacy groups, and public health agencies. These organizations work together to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the city.

WORLD AIDS DAY

December 6, 2025, 11AM - 2:30PM

Mary McLeod Bethune Life Center
140 MLK Dr. JC NJ 07305

In the height of the AIDS epidemic in 1988, officers from the World Health Organization (WHO) established World AIDS Day as an international day for global health awareness.

World AIDS Day serves as a day of unity for individuals globally impacted by HIV, providing a platform to share stories, honor those who have died, and collectively confront the ongoing battle against HIV. The day also aims to connect new and effective initiatives and policies related to HIV/AIDS. It is a call to action to fight the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS, promote prevention, and strengthen efforts toward ending the AIDS epidemic through education, testing, and treatment.

Despite significant progress since the first known cases of AIDS were reported in 1981, the disease remains a public health concern. World AIDS Day offers an opportunity for people and communities to remember the more than 32 million individuals worldwide who have died from AIDS-related illnesses.

Each year, United Nations organizations, cities, and communities collaborate to work toward ending the AIDS epidemic.
